All you need to know about Chester Missing & Conrad Koch

21st August, 2015

South Africa’s most in-demand political pundit Chester Missing is to headline the August edition of Comedy Central Presents…Live at Parker’s. Chester - who recently sparked a Twitter storm and nationwide furore by going “missing” for real in transit somewhere between Montreal and Johannesburg - will artfully combine side-splitting comedy with political analysis in his upcoming Parker’s appearance, helped by “associate” Conrad Koch.

Supporting Conrad and Chester will be talented stand-ups Mojak Lehoko and Kedibone Mulaudzi.

Chester has built a loyal fan-base over the last fifteen years, and lays claim to being the world’s first political analyst puppet, with a mission to get South Africans laughing at people in power.  A regular on the hit ETV show, Late Night News with Loyiso Gola, Chester has generated both local and international acclaim, made comedy appearances all over the world.  The only puppet on earth to win a court case, Chester is a frequent guest at some of South Africa’s biggest comedy events, including the 94.7 Heavyweight Comedy Jams, Blacks Only, the Smirnoff Comedy Festival, the Vodacom Comedy Festival, and Metro FM Comedy Experience, among others.

Chester’s associate Conrad Koch learned his craft at the College of Magic in Cape Town, before starting to perform comedy with the UCT Comedy Club, and then the Cape Comedy Collective. As the world’s only anthropological ventriloquist, Koch is dedicated to bettering both his art form, and to contributing to debates about culture as a whole. His blogs on the politics of culture have been widely read, while Chester Missing’s thoughts on culture are even quoted in WITS Drama courses!

In July, Chester and Conrad starred in the Comedy Central international talent showcase at the prestigious ‘Just for Laughs’ festival in Montreal, Canada, the world’s largest international comedy event alongside Dave ChappelleKevin Hart‚ Mike Myers‚ Jimmy Carr and South African comedians Jason Goliath and Trevor Noah.

Evert van der Veer, Head of Comedy Central, Africa, commented,We’re delighted to welcome Chester (and Conrad Koch) to Parker’s to headline our August session. Chester and Conrad were both a huge hit in Canada, both giving a masterclass in how to hold an audiences literally in the palm of their hands."

Added Chester Missing, “Comrades should pull through and see of how much Conrad Koch is shining on my shine, never the less we will be having fun at Parker’s and I urge all of you to go to your nearest Computicket, Money market counter and local spaza shop so that you don't miss out... Viva Comedy Central Viva!"

Comedy Central is passionate about growing the local comedy scene and endeavours to achieve this through a range of platforms such as the Comedy Central Open Mic Competition which features at every monthly Parker’s event. The competition sees three aspiring comedians selected to perform in front of the live Parker’s audience, and potentially earn the chance to make it to the finals on 1 October at Parker’s in Silverstar Casino.

Comedy Central Presents Chester Missing Live at Parker’s kicks off at Parker’s Comedy & Jive, Montecasino, Johannesburg, at 20:00 CAT on Thursday 27 August 2015.
