3rd February, 2016

Back in Cape Town for one night only, we are promising a comedy heatwave with the latest edition of Comedy Central Presents…Live at Cape Town Comedy Club (25 February).  The sensational stand-up comedy gig, Comedy Central’s longest running comedy franchise in Africa, will bring to the forefront some of Cape Town’s most notable and influential comedians, with comedy legend Martin Evans and special guest-Ava Vidal- topping the bill.

Ava Beverley Vidal  is a British comedian. She became more widely known after taking part in Kings of Comedy. Her career in comedy began on the BBC's Urban Sketch Show. Before her television career, Vidal worked as a prison officer for five years in London's Pentonville Prison.

Vidal appeared in 28 Acts in 28 Minutes and The Comic Side of 7 Days in 2005. She has also been involved in other BBC shows including The Last Laugh, The Sack Race and The Crouches. Vidal was a housemate in Kings of Comedy on E4, and Channel 4 made a documentary about her called From the Top, a half-hour show explaining her journey in comedy so far and how she became a comedian.

This edition of ”Comedy Central Presents…” also marks the kick off to Comedy Central’s 2016 “Grab the Mic” open mic contest, which affords amateur comedians the opportunity to show off their talent. Three wannabe comedians will showcase their skills before the audience picks the local heat winner, who will go on to compete for the national title in Johannesburg later this year.

Comedy Central Presents Martin Evans Live at Cape Town Comedy Club will be taped by Comedy Central for broadcast on the channel, so if you can’t see the show live, catch the highlights on Comedy Central at 21:05 CAT on Monday 25 April.

Tickets for Comedy Central Presents Martin Evans Live at Cape Town Comedy Club are available at R220 from Computicket.
