Johannesburg, 11 July 2012: Comedy Central (@ComedyCentralAF) shines the spotlight on SA funnyman Loyiso Gola (@loyisogola) in the TV premiere of Comedy Central Presents Loyiso Gola Live at Parker’s (DStv Channel 122; 20:55 CAT, 13 July 2012).

Gola, who’s jetting off to Montreal at the end of the month thanks to Comedy Central to represent South Africa at the Just For Laughs Montreal Comedy Festival 2012comedy festival, tops the bill and emcees the stand-up comedy special, which also showcases Deep Fried Man, Martin Jonas and Lazola Gola.

Loyiso Gola, who recently received his second "Best Comedian of the Year" nomination in as many years for the Comics Choice Awards, has been one of the most prolific comedians in South Africa in the past few years. In addition to the sterling work that he has been doing on comedy stages all over the country, the ground breaking success of his satirical television show Late Nite News with Loyiso Gola” on e.tv & eNews has served to make him even more of a household name as the show closes in on 2 million viewers per episode.

In just a little over two years in the industry Deep Fried Man (a.k.a Daniel Friedman) has developed a genre-defying blend of music, comedy and satire that is clever, controversial and completely unique. His debut one-man show, “Deeply Fried”, won multiple awards, including Newcomer at the 2011 Comics Choice Awards, and a Standard Bank Ovation Award, and he was joint winner of the 2010 Parkers Comedy Showdown. He has been a part of many of South Africa's biggest comedy events (46664's It's No Joke, The Jozi Comedy Festival, The Heavyweight Comedy Jam) and has been featured on television and in films (Material, LOL, Tonight With Trevor Noah, LNN with Loyiso Gola, Opening Guys, MTV Base Meets with MTN and Comedy Central).  YouTube success arrived thanks to “An Idiot's Guide to the South African National Anthem”, a collaboration with comedian Gareth Woods, and his attempts to poke fun at Helen Zille which accidentally got her trending worldwide on Twitter.

Martin Jonas, a self-styled boykie from Potchefstroom, is South African through and through, and his comedy - delivered in both English and Afrikaans - covers just about all aspects of the South African lifestyle.  A firm favourite on the stand-up comedy club circuit, Martin has headlined at all the Comedy Express venues and major comedy functions nationwide, including the 5fm Comedy Jams as well as the Kingsize Comedy Events. Impressing audiences with his novel style and pertinent observational humour, Martin was invited by Joe Parker to be the support act on his “First Farewell Tour” of December/January 1997/98. In April 1998, M-Net picked Martin to compère their “It’s A Funny Country” special and since then, his reputation has grown and grown. Martin was invited to appear in the Smirnoff Mule Comedy Festival in October 1998 in both Durban and Cape Town at the Playhouse Theatre and Baxter Theatre respectively. In March 2002, Martin was included in the line-up of comedians performing at the South African Comedy Festival in London where he received rave reviews.

Cape Town comic Lazola Gola, had his first show in high school and has been doing it ever since. His act has evolved into a well-rounded stage persona, dancing between unusual and quirky. One of the most exciting new acts in the country today, Lazola takes the audience on a ride into a world of unique observations, different and hilarious perceptions about everyday life.
